The City of Sacramento City Council voted unanimously on Tuesday, June 19, 2018, to have Morton Golf LLC take over the golf course management of the William Land Golf Course in the heart of the 100-year-old Land Park, the city park jewel.
The City finalized a deal earlier this month with Morton Golf LLC to take over the operations of William Land Golf Course beginning July 1, 2018. Morton Golf currently operates the Sacramento area‘s three other public golf courses: Haggin Oaks Golf Complex, Bing Maloney Golf Course, and Bartley Cavanaugh Golf Course. “City staff and officials have been working on solutions to continue operations,” the city said in a release. “And a partnership with Morton Golf will allow for a seamless transition.”
The First Tee of Greater Sacramento has operated the 90-year-old William Land Golf Course in 1998 and invested more than 1.3 million dollars of capital improvements over their tenure to the property. Morton Golf LLC will continue First Tee junior programs at the site and TFTGS will be able to focus on other areas of programming across Sacramento. Morton Golf LLC taking over the lease means the preservation of 22 part-time and three existing full-time jobs and has plans on expanding the staff and services.
