Mizuno brings back a classic design to create possibly the best feeling iron on the market right now.

The new Mizuno MP-20 irons are out featuring some classic design features including the copper underlay originally made famous by Tommy Nakajima with the TN87 irons.

These new clubs include a number of well thought out features that add incredible feel, durability, and quality that puts the MP-20 a step above almost anything else in their class.

Some of these features include:

Grain Flow Forging

Mizuno uses a process called grain flow forging that they believe adds consistency and feel to the clubs by making them around the natural grain flow of a single billet of 1025E Pure Select Mild Carbon Steel.

Grain flow forging is Mizuno’s term for forging the entire club head out a single billet of steel that is first heated and bent to the rough shape of the club.

This is done to make sure that the grain of the metal is going in the right direction to be able to naturally flow with the shape of the clubhead.

They then stamp it under thousands of pounds of pressure to form the shape of a clubhead that you would recognize.

From there, they cut away the excess metal and move through the rest of the process of adding the copper overlay as well as the nickel and chrome finish.

This Enhanced Grain Flow Forging process increases grain density in the impact area for the ultimate soft, solid, consistent feel.

Harmonic Impact Technology

With tons of research and dozen of studies, Mizuno’s team has discovered that typically the larger the sweet spot the worse the club sounds and visa versa.

However, using their Harmonic Impact Technology (H.I.T.) they have maximized the MP-20 irons to give you maximum forgiveness all while creating a buttery feel and beautiful sound that all come together to create fine-tuned head geometry that delivers ideal impact feel and feedback.

1025E Pure Select Mild Steel

For the base of this club, Mizuno uses 1025e pure select mild steel that is held to a six-times tighter tolerance than the industry standard.

This creates greater purity and consistency in their golf clubs so that you don’t end up with air pockets or inconsistencies that, although they may seem small, can have a major impact on your game.

The 1025e steel is used in Mizuno’s one piece irons for higher level players seeking the ultimate in precision and feedback.

1025 is used for its balance of strength, bend‐ability, and feel and the evolution to 1025E reduces unnecessary elements that occur during the forging process – phosphorus and sulfur.

This steel is produced in a specific plant in Hiroshima that Mizuno has had a relationship with for decades that has allowed Mizuno to perfect their forging expertise and craftsmanship.

From craftsmen that are trained for years before being allowed to touch the forging equipment to a fine-tuned process, Mizuno’s eye for detail and relationships allow them to create one of the most consistent, beautiful and incredible feeling irons on the market.

Copper Underlay

Mizuno is also taking a page from their own history books and is reintroducing a copper underlay in the MP-20 irons similar to what they used in the TN87 irons.

This thin copper layer beneath a nickel-chrome finish further enhances the impact feel of the club so that whether you are an intermediate or advanced golfer you can finally feel what a club feels like for the pros.

Flow Tapered Blade

A discreetly tapered top blade and cambered sole allow a fuller vertical spread of weight to forgive strikes high or low from the face – without distorting the traditional muscle-back appearance.

This provides lower COG long irons for higher launch and higher COG, lower launching, more compact scoring irons.

The clubs are organized into 3 categories in regards to the taper

9 Iron – PW

These are the most tapered and flow to match with the T20 wedge for a higher sweet spot and lower trajectory.

6-8 Iron

3-5 Iron

These irons have a minimal taper for a lower sweet spot so that you gain more consistency and forgiveness in your long irons.

These are the base model of the MP-20 blades.

MP-20 MMC (Multi Metal Performance)

The 2nd generation of Mizuno’s multi-material concept – with a thinner topline and refined scoring irons.

Based on the chassis, set flow and proportions of the MP-20 muscle back-engineered to be more playable through the use of Titanium muscle plate and Tungsten sole weight.

These clubs are made for advanced golfers and tour players who want a club maximized for their game.

MP-20 HMB (Hot Metal Blade)

Tungsten Weighting:

A full set of performance hybrid irons – in a sharp ‘tour-ready’ profile. Inspired by the proliferation of long iron replacements on tour –the MP20 HMB extends the concept right through to wedge.

Built upon the ball speed of Mizuno’s Chromoly Face and Neck, supported by a precision stainless steel body and Tungsten weighting.

Layered with soft Copper plating and protective Nickel Chrome for legendary feel and feedback.

The 2-7 iron options deliver stability and easy launch with twin 12g tungsten weights that are strategically placed in the toe and heel to provide a low, deep COG and increased MOI.

MP-20 SEL (Special Edition Leftie)

The perfect mixed set of precise, shotmakers MP-20 muscle back mid to short irons, and stable, easy launching MP-20 HMB long irons.

Based on their most popular right-handed, blended set with lofts adjusted for perfect distance gaps throughout.

New to Mizuno, these irons are made specifically for left-handed golfers who want in on this exceptional quality and feel.

Availability

The MP-20s are available in both right and left-handed (Mp-20 SEL) options and a set make up of 2-9 + PW (varies by set).

Additionally, these clubs are available with steel shafts and an s300 flex option. They also come with a stock Golf Pride ZGrip .60 round.

Although these are the stock options, you can always customize shafts and grips when ordering them from our website, otherwise, you will be given the standards listed above.
